Evaluation of Potential Draft Pick for Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins will be evaluating, interviewing and scouting many players at the 2014 NFL
Combine February 22nd thru the 25th, the date that will really interest the Dolphins is February 22nd that is when the Offensive Lineman participate.
The Miami Dolphins biggest need is obviously offensive line and with the Dolphins picking in the first round at number nineteen, there will be a couple of highly touted offensive tackles. Many draft guru's believe Miami Dolphins first pick will be an offensive lineman and the name that keeps popping up is Zack Martin left tackle who played his college ball at Notre Dame. Zack Martin has good balance, is never on the ground, has real strong hands, good feet to play left tackle in the NFL, he stands 6'4 weighs 308lbs and has great versatility where he can play guard and right tackle as well. Many NFL scouts believe if he were to move inside to guard he could become a really special player.
The other name out there that would make sense is Taylor Lewan 6'8 309 lbs played his ball at Michigan, he is your prototypical left tackle good with his timing, his punch, strong in the run game, named Big Ten Conference Offensive Lineman of the year for a second season in a row and is known to have a mean streak with a nasty attitude on the field.
The second need the Dolphins have is a true bruising power Running Back, names to keep an eye on at their combine date which will be on February 23rd, 2014 are; Carlos Hyde 6'0 236 lbs(Ohio State), Andre Williams 6'0 231 lbs (Boston College), Tre Mason 5'10 205lbs (Auburn) who can all be there potentially between rounds two and three, a name to look at between rounds three and four is Charles Sims 6'0 214 lbs (West Virginia) thick kid with very strong legs.
Third need would be Safeties and when i say that i mean like in the third, fourth rounds, but names to watch at the combine on February 25th, 2014 are; Ahmad Dixon 6'0 205 lbs (baylor) known to be a hitter and intimidator. Deone Bucannon 6'1 216 lbs (Washington State) is a safety that will come up and be a hitter while also helping to control the middle of the field, he would provide a physical presence opposite Reshad Jones.
In my opinion the Dolphins should draft an Offensive Lineman, the two names Zack Martin (Notre Dame) and Taylor Lewan (Michigan) should be one of the picks if they are available at pick number 19. The dolphins will then need to make a decision on who fits their style better Zack Martin who is versatile and potentially a special player at Guard or The prototypical Left Tackle in Taylor Lewan who for Dolphin fans will bring back some memories of a departed Jake Long because he plays Left Tackle, wore number 77 and went to Michigan.
